Should I prefer to use NPM or Homebrew?

Question for both MacOS and Linux.

Brew seems to take longer to update on every codex version.
3 hours since 0.41.0 was released but only 0.40.0 is available.

NPM is weirdly attacked all the time.

Which is better for security and reliability?
I was using NPM but switched for brew thinking it was safer/better.
