Purpose

This front-end style guide is a collection of modular components in the OpenBMC user interface. It includes rules and descriptions for color, typography, margins/spacing, interactions, etc, to help designers and developers across all companies contributing to the OpenBMC achieve visual and behavior consistency when designing and coding GUI panels.

It benefits the team in two ways: (1) prototyping ideas and implementing new designs becomes more efficient, and (2) a consistent visual design can be easily enforced throughout the product.

Alternatives Considered

An alternative to the InVision document is to create a wiki in a new openbmc repository

Testing

This style guide is currently being vetted by the IBM front-end development team. Comments, questions and changes can be provided in the InVision project, or they can be discussed during the bi-monthlyGUI Design work group calls.
