Thinking about this again, I'm not entirely sure we can track this with Matomo. I think this search field does not send keystrokes back to Matomo, if I understand it correctly, the page is pre-loaded, and the filter is applied on the loaded page data. I'll check and post back.

It might be possible with recording sessions or heatmaps, but I think it might pose a privacy issues:

Ok, first test-results are in from a session recording:

This method is not particularly selective and the key-stroke input is hidden by default. We can unmask these, by changing the code for this specific page - see "Unmasking keystrokes in form fields":

Another option could be to create a custom tag Using Matomo Tag Manager or Direct JavaScript (under the Forms feature).
