Why are we doing this?
We have made a number of decisions regarding the architecture of the ICD 10 coding system and its presentation to users that deviate from the implied standard pattern of other coding systems.
These deviations were necessary due to the unique properties of the ICD 10 coding system, and the unique situation of OpenSAFELY using two separate editions of ICD 10 in different datasets.
We should record these decisions in one or more ADRs for future travellers.
How will we know when it's done?
One or more ADRs exist documenting the design decisions for the ICD 10 coding system in OpenCodelists
What are we doing?
Documenting:
- what data we load
- how we load it
- how we model the coding system
- what data we present to users
- what special data circumstances we highlight to users, and how
