As I had to work on this repo recently, I believe this code is ripe for a rewrite. It's quite difficult to maintain and there is no good reason for the wrapper code to exist at all.

To update you on this issue, we recently added OpenTofu version file support at #59, and we don't plan to support any other tooling besides that.
