I am cross-posting this issue that I filed about an incompatibility between the mkdocs-gallary plugin and this one, because I am not sure 'whose fault it is'
smarie/mkdocs-gallery#106

Essentially when that plugin is enabled literate-nav stops working. I am hoping maybe something could be done on the literate-nav side of things...
