Select Topic AreaHow can I get Sunshine to use the right monitor? BodyI've used Sunshine successfully on my Fedora Linux desktop for some time. My DE is KDE/Plasma with Wayland, and my GPU is an AMD RX-580. The remote client is Moonlight on an Xbox Series S with a 4K TV attached. I recently added a 4K Dell monitor to my desktop (DP connection) as well as my existing 1920x1080 HP monitor on HDMI. The new monitor is the designated default in Sunshine (i.e. 0). This is what happens on starting Moonshine: The 'desktop' option shows my desktop as seen on the old (HP) monitor. If I switch to mouse mode I can move, click etc. The 'Steam' option starts Steam on the PC, on the Dell monitor in Big Picture mode, and the Moonlight screen goes black. Mouse movements and clicks from the Xbox register on the PC but nothing is visible on the TV. I've tried changing the default monitor in the Sunshine config to 'wayland-0' (which is what the system settings show) but it makes no difference. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? NOTE: there are some reports of similar situations with Sunshine and Wayland, apparently caused by a problem with dmabuf, but as far as I can see all these relate to headless servers, which is not the case here. Here is the Sunshine startup log: [2025-09-05 13:11:38.908]: Info: Sunshine version: v2025.628.4510 |

Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same issue, with very similar output with respect to the monitor detected area of the output. The setup stuff says to look for a display ID, but with wayland it seems to give wayland-0 for both displays. The only other thing that differentiates them that's similar to the example ID's is the port ID's, like DP-3 and DP-5 in my case. But setting either of those in the display ID setting of Sunshine just caused it to throw errors about not being able to find a display with that ID. So that's clearly not right. It's also definitely something Sunshine is doing. If I close Sunshine, I can launch Big Picture and games from within Big Picture all on the correct monitor. Once Sunshine is open though, it forced everything off of the main monitor at first. I say at first because I was at least able to get Big Picture back on the correct monitor after some finagling. But Sunshine refuses to launch any games on the same monitor as it started Big Picture on, and I can't decipher why. Just really not sure what to try. I know I've seen display ID's like the examples shown in the Sunshine settings, but I can't figure out what command shows them now, or if it's even possible to get with Wayland. Any help is really appreciated! |

I haven't done much with this recently, but am now on Fedora 44 with KDE 6.7 and Wayland, and Moonlight/Sunshine appears to be working. Fingers crossed it stays that way. |

Thanks for replying still! I found a fix for the game that was causing me issues. It was just to change its video settings to borderless full screen, then select the correct monitor in the games video settings. I had selected the correct monitor in the games settings before thinking it saved, but it actually reverted the setting every time unless borderless full screen was enabled. Though I still have zero clue what display identifier Sunshine/Moonlight want when running Wayland. Since knowing that maybe could have solved it without needing to adjust game settings. Especially considering that having Sunshine running is what caused the game to be pushed to the 2nd monitor in my case. |

I'm no longer experiencing this problem on Fedora (44) with Wayland. |
