Supporting Agent Modes

Analogous to claude code Plan Mode, or Zed Agent's Ask|Write|Custom modes. I think this would essentially take after Zed's model where a mode is a name for a set of tools available, where some can be read only vs write.

Hi @jalvarado91 , just so I understand correctly, would these be protocol methods to pass when creating a new session and to update a given session?
And the agent could potentially provide which ones are available to choose from? It seems aligned with what we had planned if that is the case.
