I've never heard of that. They likely already have went with Electron seeing as it's very mature, but this is interesting thanks for sharing!

Electron is certainly a problem with Discord, but Discord isn't slow because it uses Electron.

VSCode is an example of an Electron app that is significantly more tolerable (though, still, a tad choppy at times.)

A good web-app is a so-so desktop app, but a bad web-app, like Discord, is a disgusting desktop app.

Right now there is nothing as stable AND easy to ship to multiple platforms. Tauri still hasn't solved the issues with the web view and this would be the same issue with electrobun. All of these are web based and none will be as fast as a native client, which again is a tradeoff for visually appealing/easy to manage programs.
