Phantom wallet stuck on "Connecting..." on Firefox (random, works after refresh, provider injection errors)

Summary

On Firefox (Fedora Linux 42, Firefox 139.0), Phantom wallet randomly gets stuck on "Connecting..." and never finishes. The only workaround is to refresh the page, then connecting works. This can happen even after hundreds of successful connections, or even if the wallet is already connected and the user simply refreshes: the bug may appear again, with the same errors. It does not happen on Chrome.

Configuration:

• OS: Fedora Linux 42 (Workstation Edition) x86_64
• Browser: Firefox 139.0 (64-bit)
• Phantom extension: 25.16.0

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use a Next.js app with @solana/wallet-adapter-react and the official WalletModalProvider.
2. Click "Connect wallet".
3. Select Phantom.
4. Observe that sometimes the wallet gets stuck on "Connecting..." (random, but happens often on Firefox).
5. Refreshing the page allows connection to work (temporarily), but the bug can return at any moment, even if the wallet was previously connected and you just reload.
