Go to function definition with Positron

There might be a straightforward answer to this question, but I could not find any information online or using Copilot, so I thought to ask here, in case anyone else is going through the same issue.

I am not able to jump into the body of functions from installed R packages when using Positron 2025.12.1. I tried F2, like I used to do in Rstudio, and I also tried using right‑click → Go to Definition. Those either do nothing or only show references. I tried this on Windows and macOS. I have also laguageserver installed, in case that is useful information.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I change something on the settings? or installed any other package?

I believe we're tracking what you're describing in #8631. Want to take a look and add info on what you are looking to do?

As a workaround for now, you should be able to do View(function) to see the function definition, like View(sample) or View(dplyr::mutate).

Yes, that’s exactly the issue I’m facing. I don’t think I have much more to add to the discussion, but I’d like to emphasize how helpful the F2 shortcut has been for fast debugging in RStudio. That said, your solution works well. It might take a few seconds longer to include it in the console, but I can work with that.
