Converted from SourceForge issue 3363592, submitted by None

It'd be great to be able to bind a foobar2000 keyboard shortcut to invoking a foosnarl message. I frequently use such a feature to remind myself of what's currently playing.
I'm currently unable to do so, as there's no foosnarl "action" to bind to.
Thanks!

I like FooSnarl a lot, and this is the only thing I wish it could do. Thanks for this plugin.

Hey, thanks for the note. I'll take a look at firing up another round of development this weekend. It sure has been a while.

Thanks, I appreciate it. If you don't get to it, it's still an awesome plugin (and I can always do a quick pause/unpause to see the current song).

Hey Steve,
I really dug in and cleaned up FooSnarl, including finally finishing this feature. You can check out the latest pre-release on GitHub for the updates. Take the opportunity to check it out and let me know if this menu action works for you. It's located under the playback menu and can be bound to a hotkey. Also, checkout the revamped preferences page.

Let me know how it works for you. I don't have any other known users at the moment, so if all is well, i'll probably drop the beta tag rather quickly.

Hi Skyler,

Downloaded this morning and it works perfectly -- thanks so much for implementing that. The prefs page is an improvement on the old system too; much friendlier. But what does "Enable Actions" do? I thought that disabling it might make the action unavailable for hotkeys but it didn't seem to. (I wouldn't want to untick it anyway if that's what it's for; just asking!)

I like the Test button also! Very helpful always to be able to see what the format will look like. FYI the Preview box isn't scrollable, so for my three-line body I see 2.5 lines in the preview. This isn't a problem for me at all, as I can just hit Test and see it in Snarl, but I thought you might want to know.

Thanks again. FooSnarl is now perfect! Good work. :-)

Cheers,
Steve

The enable actions check box controls whether or not Snarl Actions are added to the notifications. They should be visible as a small icon that appears when hovering over the notification. Clicking that icon brings up a small menu to Play/Pause, Next, Previous. If you're an avid hotkey user, it's probably not necessary. I can do more to make this clearer without crowding the preferences page.

I guess I only tested my preferences page with a two line body. Mental note for better extremity testing.

I still plan on doing a little more PR, including some photos and better description of features to put on the project site.

Thanks for the feedback.

Understood. Actions sound useful in general, but indeed for me as a hotkey user I likely won't use them much. Great idea though.

Cheers,
Steve
