Access to markdown-it functions?

I'm trying to access the [parse ](https://markdown-it.github.io/markdown-it/#MarkdownIt.parse)function of markdown-it proper but unable to find the proper way to do it my vue methods. Is this possible? I'm trying to convert the markdown to json like the debug example in their [demo code](https://markdown-it.github.io/).
