rspec for multiple database

Hi,

I am using shard_resolver of Rails to handle switching database for Rails.

When I create a data test, I need to switch database connection and then create data.

I can get the record with the variable tenant_1_user, but in the controller (I am using request test), I run

end

there is no user.

Is there anyway to do test for shard_resolver at the moment? If not, I guess I need to create test data to the database instead of memory

If you set a breakpoint in your controller, can you confirm that the User connection goes to the same shard where you created test data?

yes, I run the byebug when running the test to make sure if the data is created in different shard or not. It seems the config is correct. I still not write the unit test with the wrapper ActiveRecord::Base.transaction.

Lemme create a test repository and debug again. I will put the test repo here asap.

the code is ugly because it is for testing. Sorry about that.

Honestly, I am trying to write a helper for my gem tenant_realm to do unit test with rspec. My production is just stable with multi-tenant. Now I just wanna add unit test. Maybe I config it wrong for rspec. Please let me know if my config is wrong somewhere.

There shouldn’t be any special configuration fo RSpec. It’s the code that juggles connections shold turn on the right one in each context.

Are you sure that the same db connection is used in both the setup code and the controller? Can you check by running the spec and setting breakpoints in two those points?
