Per our versioning policy I had to release a new version to support 8.0.0, given the delay in releasing this and how our versioning doesn't quite align with Rails current time based strategy, I took the decision to also drop 7.1.x support in 8.0.0 given it will end of life this year and I don't want to release another major until Rails 9.0.0, this also allowed the main branch to drop support for Ruby 2.7. Bug fixes for Rails 7.1.x will be considered on a case by case basis for merging into |

I was quite surprised that with the 8.0.0 release support was dropped not only for Rails 7.0, which is out of security support, but also for Rails 7.1.
What is the rspec-rails team's policy on this?
