data/function binding for "mapping"?

I'm looking for a way to use binding with the "mapping" function in the rudder-json-template-engine.

I couldn't find anything related to binding custom functions for input transformation within the "mapping" context in https://github.com/rudderlabs/rudder-json-template-engine/blob/main/test/scenarios/mappings.

Is there currently a way to achieve this, or is it a feature that's not yet implemented?
