Everytime i go on this website theres this bizarre bug advertising a scratch membership? I'm going to assume it was a complete accident as i would never imagine a FOSS project like this would get so desperate that they have to use shame tactics to manipulate children into buying a badge on a forum.

i can reproduce this too, they even added a popup on pages linking to this weird document called "terms of service" or something showing how they're gonna train ai on your stuff 🤔

Where in heck do you find the source to reproduce this? Also, why should we invest more in Ai technology over humans? It’s just very strange to me on why they would go along with this and it concerns me, even.

funny thing is that "AI" doesn't even exist yet lol

LLMs aren't really AI. they're trying to predict what a theoretical AI assistant would say if it existed, but it doesn't know it's an AI, or knows what it's saying at all. it's just math running on some gpu's or tpu's in the end

the only reason why modern llms know what an llm is (and have self awareness) is because they have a lot of info on how llms work nowadays, and they've been specifically trained to know that they are an LLM through reinforcement learning

technically, any neural network can be considered AI, and that is what AI meant before the AI hype took over (and now it's just refferring to LLMs, image and video generators). But it's not sentient, conscious, or anything even remotely close to that
