I guess that somewhat depends on your target environment: Android and the desktops come with their own on-screen keyboard, those should just work. Existing wayland/X11 keyboards can also cover some of the embedded Linux use cases.
Other use-cases are probably not covered by now: As a European dev I tend to be baffled at input requirements for South-Asian languages (not just Chinese). Please forgive my ignorance in this area.
Any contribution by somebody that actually needs Chinese input and knows what they are doing when implementing a input method for that would be very welcome!
