When we sequester more C as life, everyone benefits ... but when we treat C as a pollutant and sequester carbon in hidden places where no living form can use that carbon as the basis of Life that will participate in the LIVING carbon cycle, then everyone LOSES.
People who understand soil carbon tend to understand why [more] LIFE is the best way to sequester [more] carbon ... the more Life that we add to make healthy ecosytems healthier, the more Life we can add in the future -- building soil ecosystems is a virtuous life-enhancing circle.
We should not hide from Life ... we must enhance it.
The entire surface of the planet can not only support more life ... but those surfaces will become more healthy by supporting more life while allowing that life to be consumed or to decay naturally to feed everything like fungi, soil microbiota or even the large bipedal lifeforms that can't use sun without ridiculous use of resources.
Life is not only plants, meadows and forests which convert solar radiation into more valuable materials, but also all of the other consuming lifeforms that occupy the backside of the carbon cycle from photosynthesizing plants.
