Background? Theme?

I've taken our existing wheat-penny logo and lightened it up a bit to be used as our background. I've done this to start get us thinking about what should we have as the background for our site?

And I don't just want to talk about backgrounds, I'd also be willing to change the look of everything too. So, fonts, text color, the top bar. All of those are up for grabs.
