Manual vs REST API Cruise Control rebalancing

Hello,
Having Strimzi operator based kafka cluster and want to enable cruise control rebalancing manually.
What is the recommended way to rebalance out of two below?

1. kubectl annotate kafkarebalance strimzi.io/rebalance=approve -n

2. Cruise control provided back-end REST APIs

Strimzi has the support for Cruise Control rebalancing via the usage of KafkaRebalance custom resource which is of course the preferred way as more Kube-native compared to use the REST endpoints.
