Guide a new Space to its first shared win #9

Description

@johannesjo

Problem

A new Space starts with an empty primary list and scratchpad. The product's value only becomes visible after the creator adds real work and another person joins, but the current UI does not guide those two activation steps.

Recommended direction

Show a lightweight, contextual activation prompt only while the Space has no tasks and only one member. It should point directly to the existing add-task and invite actions, then disappear automatically from real product state.

MVP scope

  • Show an in-Space prompt for a one-member Space with no primary-list tasks.
  • First action focuses the existing add-task input.
  • Second action copies the existing join link.
  • Remove the prompt automatically once a task exists or another member joins.
  • Do not persist onboarding flags or add a wizard.

Acceptance criteria

  • A new, empty, one-member Space shows the prompt.
  • “Add the first task” focuses the existing task input.
  • “Invite someone” copies the correct join link and confirms success.
  • The prompt is absent when the primary list contains a task.
  • The prompt is absent when another member has joined.
  • The layout works at mobile and desktop widths.
  • Component tests cover visibility and both actions.

Key assumption

The blank state causes some creators to leave before reaching a collaborative moment.

Not doing

  • Persisted onboarding progress.
  • Multi-screen tours.
  • Fake or pre-seeded tasks.
  • Purpose templates; track those separately.
