py-atom / py-dot working via get_py_atom create OperationAtom only with unwrap=True. Optionally overriding this behavior to call Python functions on non-unwrapped atoms would be sometimes convenient.

I thought py-atom and py-dot should work with Python objects only. What is the usecase to work on native atoms?

There were multiple reasons and cases reported, but it's enough to say that the current behavior is not consistent since Atom typed arguments are reduced.
