Does not work with Start11 installed

• I have confirmed that this issue does not happen when ExplorerPatcher is not installed
• I do not have "register as shell extension" enabled
• I have tried my best to check existing issues

Describe the bug

I installed Explorer Patcher today and right clicked the taskbar but was not presented with the Properties menu entry. I did restart Windows Explorer before looking.

Expected outcome

I expected to see the Properties entry to be able to change some settings!

Actual outcome

No Properties menu entry found!

Additional info

The installation did only state that Windows Explorer needed to be restarted when it finished installing the symbols, which I did. If the system needs restarting then you need to change that message!

If you enabled the option register as shell extension, disable it by opening up the EP properties application, go to File Explorer, and untick Register as shell extension.

Please update and post windows version and build. You can find this by running winver. Please include if you are running x86-64 or Arm. And what language your windows is in.

I was never presented with any option to register as a shell extension during installation.

However, I just found ep_setup.exe in the ExplorerPatcher folder and ran that, it told me there was an update and asked if I should install that. I did and now I see the Properties entry! Was that a quick fix since I stalled the latest version to fix this issue? 🙂

EDIT to add: After I just posted the above I looked at the menu again and now the Configure Start11 option is missing! So it seems there is an issue with it coexisting with Start11. 🫤

EDIT2: I just changed one option to disable skinning the taskbar and restarted Explorer to find the menu back to the Start11 version showed in my report.

Start11 and EP are not meant to be used at the same time, pick one to be installed.

Nah, I think I'd rather keep Start11 as Stardock is far more trusted. After all, Microsoft tried to buy them out but Stardock refused, and instead licensed Stardock's skinning technology for Microsoft to make Windows XP skinnable! A shame EP was made to only work this one way as some of the options were interesting. A bigger shame you blame a program that has been around longer, which means the onus is on EP to work with existing software, not the other way round. Pitty.
