Minute Taking Tool

With @relu91 we did some initial work to understand which tool would suit for note-taking purposes. Like mentioned in Internal Meeting 2, IRC provided by W3C and the minute rendering tools do not work for us since we cannot edit them easily.

Some general requirements:

• Markdown support so that the minutes can be put in our Github
• Collaborative editing so that multiple people can edit at the same time
• Anyone should be able to see the minutes live as the scribe is taking them
• No fees for the basic functionalities

We have looked at Hackmd and it seems to check all of the requirements above but with some caveats:

• If we allow everyone to edit, we cannot undo other people's actions. Only that person can undo. It is dangerous since someone can accidentally delete everything.
• 20 pushes to GitHub per note. However, this is not a problem since we can copy paste the minutes to GitHub at the end of every meeting
• It is not possible to give write access to only a certain section
• We can only have 4 people with write access at a time (unless we make everything public).

We have created a "permamanent template" document at https://hackmd.io/@egekorkan/w3c-wot-cg-minutes (only readable). The usage of the document is documented as follows:

Usage of this document:

This document is used for all minutes of the WoT CG.
After the meeting, the contents will be copied to the GitHub with a PR.
For one week, changes can be requested and then the PR will be merged.
After the PR is merged, the content can be deleted.
Document Access:

• Everyone has read and commenting access
• Cristiano Aguzzi and Ege Korkan can edit the document
• Other people can request write access for a meeting
• The scribe of the meeting will have write access
