I've been on wave for a year but must go back to iterm2 (I would use warp terminal again except for this).
Wave is open source which is awesome. Thank you to the community that has built this, it was a breath of fresh air compared to warp's sort-of take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards users. Wave's aesthetics are great and it meets most of my needs but ultimately I grew impatient with the below traits (listed in order of importance to me). I'm listing them here only to bring attention to them to ultimately help make it better. These are only based on my experience so it's possible that I simply didn't understand how to correctly use the tool and have misstated these:
[bug] modifying past commands (using up arrow) that span more than 1 line can confuse the cursor placement (off by 1) and lead to syntax errors only discovered after hitting enter. modifying past commands (using Ctrl+R) works fine. I couldn't find an issue on this.
[bug?] Unexpected keyboard shortcut behavior that I did not see where to configure. Ctrl+U shortcut not working as expected (it erases the whole line instead of what is left of the cursor). Ctrl+D doesn't close an exited tab like I would expect (must use Ctrl+W). Ctrl+N opens a split window within a tab but Shift+Ctrl+N opens in a new window; I would expect this behavior to be reversed. Sort of related to [Feature]: Edit the DEFAULT/STANDARD keyboard shortcuts/key bindings #1943
[bug?] The search window is fine but has some annoying features (it's brand new so this is understandable). I could not figure out how to consistently escape from it using only the keyboard, I often had to click in it and then hit escape or just hit the X to close it. Also, it interferes with your clipboard (persistently overwrites it whenever the search window is open and you try copying something inside the terminal but outside of the search box). I couldn't find any open issues on these.
[feature] the scrollable window history is short IMO and not configureable (couldn't find an issue on this)
[feature] there is no command block view similar to warp (being able to navigate previous command output by using Shift+up/down arrows). Might be related to [Bug]: No blocks and no wsh installed #1629
I see a lot of effort to improve the AI experience which is understandable. But cannot speak to the AI features as I rely on other tools like opencode or my IDE for most of that.
Thanks for reading. I think wave is a solid tool with a bright future and I will be following its progress.
