Ability to work on a document in an uninterrupted manner

Hi!
I'm really value and enjoy the work put into this so far.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to read a document full-screen (as reading 2-columned PDFs is pretty uncomfortable otherwise), and to be able to hit "i" to note something and continue reading without disturbing the flow.
Currently, adding a note pops up the notes document, and moves the focus to it, requiring me to have that window open at all time, and to change back to the PDF's window.
Is there a way to work around this?
