mise is a tool manager, environment manager and task runner. It aims to cover the roles of tooling version managers like asdf, nvm, pyenv while being more consistent and performant. It also can manage environment variables for a project (like direnv, already in Wolfi OS) and run project tasks (like just or task, also in Wolfi OS). The task running functionality in particular is useful for our CI images, as it ensures our container builds are consistent with the ones we run outside, the same way as Makefile-driven build tasks would be.
