featureRequest : "Open with" option when opening files/directories

Hi!
I would like to propose the addition of an "Open With" feature that enables users to select applications for opening files or directories based on their supported formats. This functionality is commonly found in various operating systems and would significantly enhance user experience by providing more flexibility in how files are accessed.

I have no idea how to implement this feature. But I would love to try and build this feature myself if possible, so any suggestions/advice/steps/hints on how to implement this feature would be greatly appreciated.
