Does this bug persist in a new vault with only Excalidraw installed?

  • [ x ] Yes, I have verified the issue persists.

Your environment

Obsidian: 1.8.7
Only plug-in installed is Excalidraw.

Your NotebookLM query

No response

Describe the bug

The Auto-export PNG setting is enabled. When cutting and pasting an object the GPU goes to 100% and both the drawing and Obsidian are locked up long while.

Reproduced the issue in my sandbox vault with no other plug-ins running, the default theme and no CSS snippets. If I delete most of the objects it starts working again. The Excalidraw MD file is only 154 KB in size. The resulting PNG file is 264MB. The issue does not occur with auto-saving SVG files.

Steps to reproduce

Enable the Auto-export PNG setting. Open a larger Excalidraw drawing. Copy a shape and paste it.

Expected behavior

Pasted object should appear and be editable immediately.
