## What is CAPLEX?
CAPLEX is a library of standardised (reference) definitions of quantities, models and analysis processes commonly used in contrast-agent based perfusion MRI (DCE and DSC-MRI).

## Why do we need CAPLEX?
Very little guidance or standards exist relating to reporting of DCE\DSC analyses. This ultimately hinders progress of the technique towards clinical adoption. The aim of CAPLEX is to reduce reporting variability by providing reference definitions for commonly used quantities, models, or processes.
## Mission
The **C**ontrast **A**gent **P**erfusion MRI **LEX**icon (CAPLEX) provides a standardized library of definitions for quantities, models, and analysis processes commonly used in Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced (DCE) and Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) MRI.

## Who created CAPLEX?
CAPLEX was created by Taskforce 4.2 of [OSIPI](https://osipi.github.io/index.html){target="_blank"}, an intiative of the [ISMRM](https://www.ismrm.org/){target="_blank"}.
## The Challenge
Consistency in perfusion MRI reporting is a known challenge in the field. Ambiguities in terminology, units, and modeling assumptions often hinder reproducibility and clinical adoption.

## Contributing to CAPLEX

**CAPLEX aims to solve this** by providing a unified reference for:
* **Quantities:** Standard notation for concentration, relaxation rates, and physiological parameters.
* **Models:** Explicit equations for Pharmacokinetic (PK) models and AIF estimation.
* **Processes:** Step-by-step definitions for analysis pipelines.

There are several ways to join the effort:

CAPLEX is an initiative of **Taskforce 4.2** of the [Open Science Initiative for Perfusion Imaging (OSIPI)](https://osipi.github.io/index.html){target="_blank"}, a study group of the [ISMRM](https://www.ismrm.org/){target="_blank"}.

1. Become a member of the task force: email **ben.dickie@manchester.ac.uk**. Anyone with relevant expertise can join - PhDs and postdocs working in DCE/DSC MRI field are particularly encouraged to apply.
## How to Contribute
We are actively recruiting new Taskforce members to help expand and refine this lexicon.
