Releases: Tribler/tribler
v8.1.2
We're proud to present the first stable release of the 8.1
series and we would like to thank everyone who participated in testing the pre-releases.
This release includes some much-requested features, like:
- BitTorrent v2 torrent support.
- A right-click context menu.
.. and many more quality-of-life features!
Heads-up: this will likely be the last major release with native support for Ubuntu 20 (moving to 22) and MacOS 12 (moving to 13).
v8.1.1
We would like to thank everyone that tested and gave feedback on our previous 8.1.0
pre-release. This release contains bugfixes for the previous 8.1.0
release, including:
- A fix for massive RAM usage.
- A fix for storing visible columns.
- A fix for torrents that never start downloading.
v8.1.0
It is time for some new features! In this release we have implemented some much-requested features, including:
- BitTorrent v2 torrent support.
- Less disk I/O.
- GUI improvements, including multiple item selection, column customization in the download list and a right-click context menu.
- Moving downloads and rechecking after completion.
- Improved magnet link parsing.
- Adding custom trackers by default to new downloads.
v8.0.7
We're seeing a lower influx of bugs and more of your feature suggestions coming into GitHub. Therefore, rounding off the 8.0
series, this will be last bug fix release before the next feature release of 8.1
. This release includes the last few stabilizing fixes before the dev team goes on a short break.
☃️ We wish you all happy holidays and good torrenting! ☃️
v8.0.6
v8.0.5
We're proud to present the first stable release of the 8.0
series and we would like to thank everyone who participated in testing the pre-release.
To import your old downloads and old decentralized torrent listing from Tribler 7.14
, go to Settings
/ Versions
and click the IMPORT
button.
Some big differences between 8.0
and 7.14
:
- Tribler now has a web GUI.
- Anonymous downloading is now powered by Rust and much faster.
- The disk space required for Tribler went down by roughly 400 MB.
v8.0.4
Just to be sure, we're going to release a final pre-release. Since the last one, we have implemented these noteworthy fixes and features:
- Ubuntu 20 (GTK-3) support.
- Sorting support and persistence for Tribler content.
- Fixes for UTF-8 support in the GUI and for downloads on your disk.
- Fixes for external translation tools crashing our GUI.
- Fixes for scrolling and content scaling.
- No more version control for your downloads: never lose them again after an upgrade.
We appreciate your continued efforts in reporting bugs and we (again) hope to get the stable 8.0 version out soon!
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE UPDATING FROM OLD PRE-RELEASE VERSIONS
To - once and for all - make sure that your downloads don't disappear between versions, we stopped requiring you to click the IMPORT
button. HOWEVER, YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY COPY OVER YOUR DOWNLOADS STARTED IN A PREVIOUS PRE-RELEASE. To do so, find your state directory:
- On Windows:
%APPDATA%/.Tribler
- On Mac/Linux:
~/.Tribler
The downloads you started in any of the 8.0.x
pre-releases will be in .Tribler/8.0/dlcheckpoints
COPY THESE TO .Tribler/dlcheckpoints
to keep your downloads.
This is a one time thing and we apologize for the inconvenience.
v8.0.3
We are slowly inching our way to the new 8.0 release. In this pre-release we have implemented the following noteworthy fixes and features:
- Added the ability to export multiple torrents at once.
- Fixed the tray icon not appearing on Mac and extremely high CPU usage.
If you (our pre-release volunteers) are happy with this release, the first "full" Tribler release is coming next.
v8.0.2
Thanks to your feedback, we managed to fix yet another batch of nasty bugs and now we have another pre-release for you containing:
- Added Korean language support.
- A fix for a bug that caused your download list to disappear.
We would, once again, like to thank everyone who tested the previous pre-release. We hope to ship the main 8.0.x release to you soon!
v8.0.1
As we work toward the next stable Tribler release, we have another pre-release for you containing:
- Improvements to start-up error messages and restoration of the tree view for a torrent's files.
- Fixes to error reporting and version detection.
We would like to thank everyone who tested pre-release v8.0.0 for their help in finding issues and we hope to continue receiving your feedback on this pre-release.
