Intel or AMD CPU

  1. The boot drive's MBR bootstrap code is loaded, which is 446 bytes of storage near the beginning of the drive. This code is either Darkside's own bootloader stage1, or another bootloader such as GRUB. Either of these will chain-load stage2, the next piece of the bootloader, from the partition's volume boot record (VBR).
