What

We would like an "eye" icon to be added to the VADS. This is an icon from Google fonts.

Purpose

This icon would be used in secure messaging on VA.gov to act as a read receipt so a Veteran can know their care team has opened their message.

Usage

This icon could be used in other areas on VA.gov to show a Veteran or a VA team member has opened/viewed an item on the site. In our example, our icon is 18 x 12px.

When I search for "opened email icon" the most common response from Google is an opened letter icon. Thus that seems to be the more commonly used iconography here. Perhaps consider the Google Fonts "Drafts" icon or the "Mark Email Read" which seem to be closest to those use cases. Given that there is the possibility of needing iconography related to ophthalmology I would think we should reserve the eye icon for something more closely related to eyeballs.
