Is it possible to compile gcc to webassembly? Macaulay2 use the quadmath library from gcc.

Possibly yes, but it would be very challenging.

If you only need the quadmath library, it would much easier to only compile that library.

gcc does have a webassembly backend https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/WebAssemblyBackend , but its quite early days as far as I can tell from random discussions I have seen. Here is random thread I came across on the wasm discord channel https://discord.com/channels/453584038356058112/590220145469947914/1477096925529506053 . Its probably only worth revisiting when its more developed I think.

isnt quadmath heavily using gcc's __float128? I am sceptical if this will be easy to implement.
At least a software version of __float128 must be implemented
