In the first part of the first chapter, a bunch of equations which were intended to be displaystyle (big characters, horizontally centered) weren't displaystyle because inline math delimiters (
$...$) were used instead of displaystyle math delimiters ($$...$$).This PR addresses that and ensures that the math is big when intended.
