[number field] Fix pointer lock release when soft clicking in Firefox

I checked if writing to a ref to ensure the ordering was correct due to async timing (e.g. the request resolving after the exit) but this didn't solve the very first soft-click, only subsequent ones, while the timeout always (appears) to work
