What happened?

returns:

Context

The URL came from the README. I wanted to test the editor on CodePen. I'm usually using a script tag there.

But it seems that UMD is no longer part of the NPM package.

Hi @jcubic , thank you for flagging. It looks like that README snippet is stale and dist/superdoc.umd.js is not part of the current npm package.

For a plain script-tag / CodePen setup, you can use https://unpkg.com/superdoc@latest/dist/superdoc.min.js instead, alongside https://unpkg.com/superdoc@latest/dist/style.css. I’ve opened a follow-up to correct the README and add a guard so the published CDN examples stay aligned with the package artifacts.

Yes, this is what I did. It has var variable.

One note: if you want to use CDN, you can't use type="module" because the main variable will be private for this module.

Thanks, that makes sense, and you’re right about type="module" here. For the CDN/global build, the correct pattern is a normal script tag pointing at dist/superdoc.min.js, so SuperDoc is available on window. We’ll make sure the README update reflects both pieces: the correct filename and no module script tag.

@jcubic a follow-up to our earlier guidance: in 2.13.0, the script-tag build is under dist-cdn/superdoc.min.js, with dist-cdn/superdoc.min.css for styles. The older dist/ links we shared no longer work in that version. We also found a separate V2 startup issue with the default CDN setup: the script loads, but the browser blocks part of the editor from starting. We’ve documented that for engineering and are keeping this issue open. We’ll follow up when we have a verified working setup to share.
