I am submitting

  • a new package
  • an update for a package

Description: Typst unofficial template for writing theses at the University of Minho (UMinho).

I have read and followed the submission guidelines and, in particular, I

  • selected a name that isn't the most obvious or canonical name for what the package does
  • added a typst.toml file with all required keys
  • added a README.md with documentation for my package
  • have chosen a license and added a LICENSE file or linked one in my README.md
  • tested my package locally on my system and it worked
  • excluded PDFs or README images, if any, but not the LICENSE
  • ensured that my package is licensed such that users can use and distribute the contents of its template directory without restriction, after modifying them through normal use.

Thanks for this package! I've left a comment regarding the name

Thank you for your feedback! Let me clarify a few points about the context of "Prometeu".

First, regarding the PROMETEU project your mentioned: it was indeed an initiative focused on mental health, but it was specifically a preliminary survey promoted by the university's general council that was wrapped up in 2024, and which directly led to the launch of the broader UMind project at the end of 2024. As such, the PROMETEU name is no longer active or central to ongoing university initiatives. In the context of a thesis template for the University of Minho, it holds even less relevance, as thesis formatting isn't tied at all to mental health surveys.

Having said that, the name "Prometeu" does have enduring significance as a mythological symbol deeply associated with UMinho. This makes prometeu a fitting prefix that is tied to UMinho's identity without being a direct or official name for the institution itself.

Now, addressing the naming rules directly: I don't see prometeu-thesis infringing on them, and in fact, it aligns well with them. As such:

  • It is not the obvious or canonical name. The most straightforward name for a UMinho thesis template would be something like uminho-thesis or um-thesis, which could imply the need of official endorsement;
  • It does not include "typst", is properly formatted in kebab-case and prometeu is not the unamended entity name (Universidade do Minho);
  • It directly follows the recommendation of having a non-descriptive part prometeu and a descriptive part thesis.

While the rules recommend including the entity name where appropiate, they seem to be not mandatory, and there are precedents for this kind of indirect references. For example, our colleagues' package invicta-thesis uses invicta (a historical nickname for the city of Porto, tied to the University of Porto) without spelling the full entity name in the package title, and it's been accepted in the Typst universe.prometeu-thesis follows a similar approach.

If you still feel a change is needed to better align to the rules, I'm open to discuss alternatives, like, as you said, adding another prefix. Let me know your thoughts!
