CCPP Framework Meeting Minutes 2021 02 23

The meeting consisted of a welcome and an introduction for the invited chemistry community. The bulk of the meeting consisted of a presentation by Steve Goldhaber followed by a discussion. Some notes:

  • Presentation slides
  • Proposal is to enable runtime handling of chemical species (constituents) via suite-provided interfaces to fill the CCPP constituent metadata DDT
  • Discussion centered around what needs to go into this structure (i.e., new properties, species properties such as molecular weight and Henry's Law coefficients and possibly certain functional information).
  • Mary Barth will help organize followup to engage community to decide what properties to add and what forms they will take.
  • Note: If fields other than Fortran logical and numeric types are adopted (e.g., function pointers) can this information be sent to components running on different tasks?
